Formed in 1960, this top ranked and highly accomplished Swedish band from Gothenburg has built a solid reputation all over Europe and the USA for its exciting foot-tapping brand of happy jazz.


The music of Peoria Jazzband encompasses jazz styles from New Orleans and Dixieland to swing. In addition to great standard tunes by Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and others, Peoria Jazzband   always looks for interesting, less well known tunes                           Vocalist Rosemarie Simonsen gives the music a very special touch.


Peoria Jazzband
has appeared at several international jazz festivals, such as "Dixieland Jazz Jubilee", Sacramento Carlifornia, USA 1981 and 1995, "Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival" in Davenport, USA 2001,  "Jazz Reunion Festival" New Orleans USA, French Quarter Festival" in New Orleans (4 times), "Dresden International Dixieland Festival" (Twice) and "Hot Jazz Meeting" plus a number of other jazz festivals in Germany, "Guiness Jazz Festival", Cork, Ireland, "Jazz Jantar" and "Old Jazz Meeting" in Poland, "Hertzogenbosch Jazz Festival", Holland and "Nemzetközi Dixieland Festival" in Hungary. The band has also of course played at many jazz festivals in the Scandinavian countries.  Peoria Jazzband has made eight tours to the USA and in 2005 the band was invited to the festival "Jazzy Shanghai" in China and on this most exciting and interesting tour the band also went on to Beijing for jazz club gigs.

Countless concerts have been given in clubs, restaurants, art halls, museums, libraries, universities, hospitals and even prisons.
For many years now Peoria Jazzband has also given lots of gospel concerts together with choirs in churches all over Sweden and several other countries.
Peoria Jazzband has broadcasted regularly on radio programmes in Sweden and abroad and has appeared on TV in Sweden, Polen, Hungary, Germany, USA and China.
